Belle

Written by the Rescue:

Belle is ready and raring to go to her new home. She’s our beautiful 2 year old black German Shepherd who was born missing a rear back foot. She is adapting nicely to her new temporary prosthesis and will be fitted with a permanent device once we are sure that we’ve got just the right fit for her. All costs regarding the prosthesis have been covered, so there will be no financial burden. She is currently in a foster home where she is practicing her socialization and manners skills but needs to find another home to continue her journey.

She was originally removed from the shelter because she was seriously unable to cope in that environment so returning her to that type of situation is not a solution, even on a temporary basis.

Belle is a one-man or woman dog and becomes quite attached and loyal to her foster family, so we are hoping to place her in a permanent home as quickly as possible. She is a special needs dog and will continue to require extra help, but is adapting to her prosthesis and she is still amazed that she can actually walk without having to drag her rear leg for the first time in her life.

We are currently in the process of evaluating her ability to live in a multi-dog household. She is discerningly loving and her foster family has found her very easy to train and is happiest when she has a job to do. Belle is very willing to please and takes food rewards from your hand with a soft and gentle mouth. She has actually written a diary of her experiences in her current foster home and her foster family is happy to provide more information and to answer any questions you might have.

Finding a forever home for Belle at this point would be ideal, but whether temporary or forever, Belle needs a place to live IMMEDIATELY. She is not the dog for a first-time owner but given leadership and positive reinforcement, she will have an opportunity to continue to develop and shine. If you think that you could be a hero for Belle, she needs you NOW. Please visit the Second Chance Pals website at http://www.secondchancepals.org for photos and a foster/adoption application.
