Enga was our German Shepherd rescue. She came from the Seminole County Shelter; she had been there about a month. We believe we were supposed to find her since she would not normally be a dog they would hold onto this long (a kill shelter). The staff had named her Ingle which caught my attention since I had once been married to an Engebretsen! We were thrilled to meet her! We changed her name to Enga and she came home with us that day!
Enga was a champion eater! If it appeared to be food, she ate it! She was very expressive and her face showed concern much of the time! She would eventually weigh 110 lbs and she shed a whole dog a week! Here are Enga and Emma waiting for the “ok” to eat their food! https://vimeo.com/177809145
Enga bonded with Carl right away! She did show some prey response towards Cat but we worked hard on this area with her! She did not understand why this cat was living in our house but she understood she should not even look at this cat! Once Enga was sleeping on Carl’s bed next to him and Cat had forgotten about the new dog…she jumped up on Carl’s bed and landed on Enga. Enga did not acknowledge that Cat was standing on her (10lbs). Cat froze and slowly moved off of Enga! Carl witnessed it all and said he had never seen a cat move so slowly so as to not wake the dog!
